What's new in Chamonix & Evasion Mont Blanc for the coming winter 2019/2020?

Updated: Jun 23, 2023

There are a number of exciting developments in the Chamonix Valley ski areas and the Evasion Mont Blanc for the coming winter season 2019/2020 including new lifts and piste improvements. Read on to find out more..

NEW 6-seater high speed chairlift: Les Chattrix, Evasion Mont Blanc

A brand new 6-seater chair lift, at the access point of Les Chattrix, will replace the old (and slow) 2-seater chairlift for the coming season. The Chattrix area is part of Saint Nicholas de Veroce ski area which is adjacent to St. Gervais and offers some fantastic ski runs, great off piste opportunities and all with amazing views of the Mont Blanc Massif. This very modern lift will offer more comfort, quicker uplift time and greater security. It will also provide the fastest access to the St. Gervais ski area which goes up to 2353m (Mont-Joly) and offers 1000m of descent. Why not come and join us this winter and enjoy skiing this fabulous area.

NEW access gondola: La Flegere Ski Area, Chamonix Valley

The old Flegere cable car is being replaced by a new and modern gondola which will transform the access to the Flegere ski area in the Chamonix Valley. The gondola is similar to the access gondola at Les Grands Montets ski area with each cabin taking 10 people. This will mean that both getting on and off the mountain will be much easier. One of the joys of skiing in the Chamonix Valley is the great off piste opportunities and steep skiing that it provides. Why not come and develop your off piste skills this season in this breathtaking environment.

Improvements to La Verte des Houches - The World Cup Downhill Run

The Kandahar Men's World Cup Downhill is a fantastic event that takes place on the famous La Verte piste in Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley. The 8th & 9th of February 2020 will be the next occasion for an alpine world cup event (a slalom and parallel slalom) and in preparation the bottom of the piste is being re-developed to meet the international standards required for FIS competition. This work includes the expansion of the finish area, the widening of the run towards the bottom including where the piste crosses the road. In addition to the Downhill the Verte des Houches piste will also be able to host slalom and parallel slalom events. In the past we have been able to combine our courses with watching the racers practice for the races. Check out what courses we have running at that time and see if you can combine developing your performance with the great atmosphere of the Chamonix World Cup.
